Legal
Terms of use
These terms govern the public DC Intel website, not a software platform with user accounts.
Last updated: 14 September 2026
These Terms of use ("Terms") apply to www.dcintel.io and related pages we operate (the "Site"). The Site is published by DC Intel ("we," "our," or "us"). By using the Site, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
1. What this site is
DC Intel publishes Alberta data-centre project intelligence and offers independent operations-assurance work. The Site currently includes:
- A public project tracker and project pages, scored using the scoring method
- Insights notes
- Information about operations assurance
- A contact form and the DC Intel Brief email list
- A free operational execution assessment
The Site is not a software-as-a-service platform. It does not provide user accounts, logins, subscriptions, payment processing, or a marketplace between operators and vendors.
2. Intelligence, ratings and insights
Project pages, scores, tiers and Insights combine public source material with DC Intel assessment. Where we split Facts from DC Intel assessment, treat them that way.
- Ratings are assessments of public execution evidence. They are not credit ratings, investment advice, appraisals, or delivery guarantees.
- Announced megawatts use mixed bases (facility power, computing load, generation and connection requests). A request is not an allocation. Do not add MW across rows as committed capacity.
- Missing fields are shown as "Not publicly confirmed" or "-" because we do not invent research facts.
- We may update scores, status and copy when the source workbook is re-imported or when we correct an error.
You remain responsible for your own due diligence. Do not rely on the Site as the sole basis for an investment, credit, procurement or construction decision.
3. Operations assurance
Information on the Site about operations assurance describes an offering. It is not an engagement. Paid work is governed by a separate written agreement.
We are not an engineering firm, commissioning authority, owner-acceptance body or credit-rating agency. Workforce work is an assessment of demonstrated capability. It is not a certification programme. We do not replace your commissioning authority, engineers or operators.
4. Free assessment
The operational execution assessment is a first-pass questionnaire. It produces an execution risk profile from the answers you submit. It is not an operations-assurance engagement, not a site audit, and not a certification.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Site in a way that breaks applicable law
- Submit false or misleading information through a form
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, APIs or related systems
- Interfere with or overload the Site
- Misrepresent DC Intel ratings, Insights or assessment output as investment advice, a credit rating, a certification or our endorsement of a project
- Scrape, bulk-download or republish the tracker or Insights in a competing product without our prior written consent, other than ordinary linking and fair dealing
6. Third-party material
Project pages and Insights link to third-party sources (for example AESO, government, company and news sites). We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, availability or terms. Following an outbound link is at your own risk.
7. Intellectual property
Site design, DC Intel trade marks, scoring method description, Insights text and the selection and arrangement of the tracker are owned by DC Intel or its licensors. You may link to public pages. You may not copy substantial parts of the Site for a competing service without permission.
Public source documents linked from the Site remain the property of their publishers.
If you send us a tracker correction or other material through the contact form, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use that material to operate and improve the Site.
8. No warranty
The Site is provided "as is." We do not warrant that it is complete, current, uninterrupted or error-free. Public sources can be wrong, late or incomplete. Our assessments can be wrong. We may change or withdraw pages at any time.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DC Intel is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Site, the tracker, Insights, the assessment tool or any linked third-party material.
If a paid engagement is in place, liability for that work is as set out in that agreement, not these website Terms.
10. Access and changes
We may suspend or limit access to the Site, including if we believe these Terms have been breached. We may change these Terms by posting an updated version with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any jurisdiction to protect intellectual property or the Site.
