Privacy policy

DC Intel ("we," "our," or "us") operates www.dcintel.io (the "Site"). This Privacy policy explains what we collect through the Site, why, and how to ask us about it. Paid engagements may be covered by a separate agreement.

The Site does not have user accounts, passwords or in-product profile settings. Requests about your information go to team@dctalent.ca.

1. Information you give us

Contact form

If you use Contact, we collect name, email, inquiry type and message, and optionally company and role. We use that information to reply to you. Submissions are sent to us by email (currently via Resend). They are not written to the Site database.

DC Intel Brief

If you subscribe to the Brief, we store your email, a source tag (which form you used) and a list type in our database so we can send Alberta project, power and operations notes. You can ask to be removed at any time by emailing us.

Free assessment

If you complete the operational execution assessment, we collect your email and the answers and derived report. We store that record in our database, generate a PDF, and email the PDF to the address you provided. We may also read the report internally when you later discuss an engagement. The assessment is a first pass. It is not a certification.

Corrections and other messages

If you email us or send a project-database correction, we keep what we need to investigate and reply.

2. Information collected automatically

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts. The server and hosting provider may record standard technical logs (for example IP address, time and requested URL) to operate and secure the Site.

If you accept non-essential cookies, we load Google Analytics (measurement ID G-DZ5SB3XJ6T). Analytics may collect device and usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location from IP, browser and referring site. If you reject non-essential cookies, we do not load Analytics.

Your accept or reject choice is stored in your browser (local storage) for about one year so we do not show the banner on every visit.

3. Cookies

The Site uses a consent banner: "We use cookies to measure site use. Accept or reject non-essential cookies."

• Non-essential: Google Analytics, only after you accept.
• Choice storage: your consent setting in local storage.

You can also block cookies in your browser. Rejecting Analytics does not stop you using the tracker, Insights, contact form or assessment.

We do not use Analytics cookies to sell advertising profiles. We do not sell personal information.

4. How we use information

• Reply to inquiries and discuss possible work
• Send the Brief if you subscribed
• Deliver the assessment PDF you requested
• Correct tracker errors you report
• Understand aggregate Site use when Analytics is accepted
• Operate, secure and improve the Site
• Meet legal obligations

We do not use Site form data to run a public user directory, and we do not share your questionnaire answers on the Site.

5. Processors and sharing

We use service providers to run the Site:

• Render - hosting and the application database
• Resend - transactional email (contact notices to us; assessment PDF to you)
• Google - Analytics if you consent, and font delivery

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect the Site or others, or if we transfer assets in a business transaction (the recipient would have to honour this policy or give you notice).

Project pages link to third-party sources. Those sites have their own policies. We do not receive your data from those clicks except as Analytics may record a click if you accepted it.

6. Where information is processed

We are focused on Alberta, Canada. Hosting, email and analytics providers may process data in Canada, the United States or other countries. Those laws may differ from Alberta's. If you use the Site, you understand that transfer.

7. Retention

• Brief / waitlist records: until you ask us to remove you, or we shut the list down
• Assessment reports: while needed to send the PDF, support a follow-up, or as required by law
• Contact emails: in our mailbox for as long as needed to handle the inquiry
• Analytics: according to Google's settings for our property
• Server logs: for a short operational period

8. Your choices

Email team@dctalent.ca to ask for access, correction or deletion of personal information we hold, or to leave the Brief list. We may need enough detail to find your record (for example the email you used).

Because there is no account login, we cannot offer self-serve export from a dashboard.

Canadian privacy law (including PIPEDA and, where it applies, Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act) may give you additional rights. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Alberta, to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.

9. Children

The Site is intended for professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you think we have, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

Production traffic is served over HTTPS. Database and email access are limited to operating the Site. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure. Do not send passwords or payment card numbers through the contact form; we do not take card payments on the Site.

11. Changes

We may update this policy by posting a new version with a revised "Last updated" date. For a material change to how we handle Brief or assessment data, we will also say so on this page.
